About

I’m Blanche, a former newspaper reporter with a French-sounding byline, now a travel magazine troubleshooter with a hyphenated surname. I thought I wasn’t the marrying type until I got a Helzberg for Christmas. It was fairly easy to change my mind. (LOL). I married my best friend at the beach one sunny Saturday in June — it was a fun, intimate wedding that I can picture in my head ’til the day I die (or fall into a coma or something).

Following my “paradigm shift”, I started this blog. It was a repository of the overload of information I gathered — with a reporter’s  diligence and determination — during the year-and-a-half we were preparing for our white-sand date. I figured, my gazillion files and finds must be of some use to somebody else out there so spread the love, right?

Now that I’ve passed from bride to wife, and from one fine day to (hopefully) one fine life, I’m even more convinced that few human experiences are as wonderful as weddings. So while real life may get in the way sometimes, I’d like to keep looking for pretty things and digging up love stories for all of us — the married, unmarried, soon-to-be-married, even the once-married — who need a happy place in this crazy world.  Here, at least for a moment, we can all enjoy “the dizzy dancing way you feel as every fairy tale comes real…”

P.S. Thank you, Joni Mitchell, for the inspiration.
