Richard and Kaye: Sweet Valentine

Here’s an equation from Guj Tungpalan, whose Redsheep Photography is one of the emerging favorites in the wedding industry:

One lovely couple + THE wedding date (Feb. 14) + a fresh and cozy preps venue (beautiful natural light) + classic Caleruega + one photogenic reception venue + ubergorgeous people (most of the guests were flight attendants from Emirates) + God’s favor and presence = one ubergorgeous wedding.

Richard and Kaye were married at the Transfiguration Church in Caleruega on Valentine’s day.

These are their gorgeous people… I bet you’d fly Emirates next time (Note: That’s where the bride and her pals work; hence, the gorgeousness  — a requirement)

One thing that made this Valentine affair sweeter for Guj is that his then-fiancee and now-wife Chickoy Vistro, did the bride’s make-up while he happily clicked away.

It was an unforgettable Valentine’s date for us – we spent V-day doing what we loved most (make-up & photography).

Their funny Valentine, sweet funny Valentine… Their looks are laughable but photographable!

Richard and Kaye, you make us smile in our hearts… Congratulations!

Von and Jenny: Very vintage

joeyv1

See what I mean by “very vintage”?

When I first  saw the stunning photo above from Joey Boquiren website, I knew this was THE vintage wedding that had to be here. Everything, and I mean everything about Von and Jenny’s May 9 wedding was period classy: the bridal car, the bride’s hair and make-up (by Sabs Hernandez), the groom’s slim suit and groomsmen’s uniform necktie, the bride’s headpiece from Etsy… they all just spelled O-L-D.

And who better to cover such an affair than Joey, who has a knack for creating this type of antiqued photos. I have a feeling this guy will be one of the most sought-after wedding photographers someday. He has talent, a down-to-earth attitude and a niche that’s becoming increasingly popular.

Jenny said they weren’t really planning on having a themed wedding but after browsing through a lot of wedding blogs and magazines, she realized she didn’t want “anything cliche.” So they ended up with things vintage. And her favorite of them all?

The bird cage veil specially made by my good friend Gideon Sy. He made the veil four days before my wedding. This is one particular piece of my accessories I’m most proud of because I never thought that I’d be wearing one since most Filipino brides wear long veils.

Von and Jenny, both graphic designers, are now back in Singapore, enjoying a very modern life. Bliss to you both!

A tale of two garden weddings

Up next are two very different but equally stunning weddings held in the same place. Over the years, Sonya’s Garden in Buck Estate, Cavite has become one of the most popular wedding venues south of Manila — and for good reason. Healthy food, reasonable rates, the best accommodations around Tagaytay and the feel of a secret garden = dream wedding setting. No wonder two photographers’ gorgeous takes this year were at this place. Redsheep presents Richard and Kaye’s modern wedding; Joey Boquiren reveals something vintage from Von and Jenny.

P.S. The owner of Sonya’s Garden, Tita Sonya — I call her tita because well, she’s my good friend Lei’s aunt and I’ve decided to adopt her because I super love her personal bathroom. LOL — took us on a tour of the garden last year. We ended up in front of an old tree that’s home to a zillion dragonflies at night. I’ll never forget that sight. Lei, thanks again to your cool aunt!)
